Basics Name: Ernest Bryant Macmillan. Date of Birth: 17 November 1979. Blood: Pure Blood. Considered a blood traitor due to his alliances in school as well as his parents support of the Order throughout the first and second war. Marital Status: Single. Sexuality: Heterosexual, bordering on homophobic. School: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. House/Year: Former Hufflepuff. Class Status: Slave. Occupation: Ernie is owned by the government since he hasn't been sold yet (though I am open to the idea). He's been working on the magical maintenance crew. Current Residence: He lives in the slave/muggle-born flats. Appearance Height: Six Feet. Weight: One hundred and forty pounds. Build: Ernie was built for Quidditch. He has always been on the more athletic and muscular side, however as he grew older into his 6th and 7th years due to constantly trying to stay in shape for the games at school, he actually improved his looks by losing a bit of the baby fat that his body maintained as he went through puberty into adulthood. Unfortunately due to the events in his life changing and without working out as much, though he maintains a perfectly fit figure, it isn’t as he once had it and instead is on the ‘average athletic’ side rather than where he’d prefer it to be from his vanity needs. Eye/Hair Color: Blue/Blond. Style of Dress: Ernie has always had an interesting form of dress. He grew up as a wizard so he has always respected the traditional robes and dress of their ‘kind’. However he also had muggle-born friends so he embraced the style of muggles while he was still at home. Unfortunately with Lord Voldemort having taken over, he has been subject to the uniform of his trade and to get what clothes he has wherever he is able to. PB Choice: Michael Pitt. Personality Non-Magical Strengths: Loyalty is above all important to him, if you haven’t the ability to remain loyal to those you care for he doesn’t think you’re a worthwhile person at all. He has an unwavering loyalty to the DA and to his friends and family. Unfortunately, Ernie hasn’t seen many of them but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t take up for them in an instant if he could. He’s got a strong sense of right and wrong, unfortunately sometimes clouding other judgments he makes. He’s a fanatic about Quidditch, ask him anything about a match or a team and he probably can just rattle off information like he’s a book himself. Non-Magical Weaknesses: Ernie has a rather large ego, it comes from being told all his life he was the best at everything by his family. Unfortunately as he grew he became judgmental because of it and more often than not before he’s even met someone he’s already made up his mind about them just from a description by someone else. He doesn’t like surprises, he feels like they’re just designed to make someone look stupid and regardless of his current situation he hates looking stupid. Perhaps one of his biggest flaws though is the inability to separate himself from situations. He isn’t exactly the ‘hero’ type but he’s more often than not become a bit overbearing on those around him that he cares about when he’s tried to protect them. Magical Strengths: Ernie’s strengths have always been in Transfiguration and History of Magic. He can’t keep his plants in Herbology alive to save his life, but he can turn his cat into a tea-set that would make McGonagall proud or tell you what happened in the first and second goblin rebellions. He was also the only Hufflepuff student who continued to N.E.W.T. level (as per canon). Magical Weaknesses: Ernie is horrific in Herbology, something taught by the Hufflepuff head of house. It was actually so embarrassing he dropped it after his fifth year when he headed for NEWTs. He also struggles with magic that requires a ‘free spirit’ side. Ernie is so absolute in his thinking that something that requires free interpretation (like divination) he struggles with. Bad Habits:Ernie talks to himself when he’s bored or has no one around to talk to. It’s a habit he picked up from school when doing homework alone, he’d talk to his Siberian Blue (feline) named Manchester. He’s also gotten into the habit of biting his tongue (literally) anytime one of the ruling class is around to avoid saying something. Ernie is very opinioned so that is his method of keeping his thoughts on them to himself. Vices: Drinking (something he’s taken to) and if he can he smokes. Feelings on Muggleborns: Ernie isn't a muggle born but one of his best friends is, so he doesn't feel as those muggle borns should be viewed as any different from anyone else. It's not your blood that makes you a good wizard or worthy, it's the person you are. He believes very strongly that there is no such thing as a blood-status divide in classes even if the dark lord has created one through force. Feelings about the Ruling Class: He believes quite strongly that the lot of them are pathetic and are only interested in power rather than actually improving the world around them. They destroyed a once perfectly functional society in a war and for what; the ability to control the lives of those around them? If he wasn’t a slave and risking worse punishment he might actually attempt to bring back some sort of DA presence. Feelings about the Dark Lord: Ernie’s feelings about the dark lord are similar to that of the ruling class. He feels that Voldemort is a waste of proper magic ability since he couldn’t put it to any use that was a benefit to society and instead seemingly destroyed everything only to make society worse. First Impression in 10 words or less: Egotistical, protective and loyal. What song would describe them? Far From Over by Rev Theory. Anything else significant? The loss of his family after the war has really had an adverse affect on Ernie. He has actually changed a lot since the day things changed in society. Though he still puts on the face of the egotistical puff he always was, he is a lot less confident without those around him he cares for. He worries daily about where his parents are and how his friends are doing. History Where were they born? Ernie was born in Kyleakin, Isle of Skye. They moved when he was three. What was their family's economic status? Ernie’s family have always been ‘comfortable’ or at least that’s what they tell people. Economically they were one of the wealthier families in their area. Where did they grow up? Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland. He actually grew up near the harbor so their family had better access to Quay Street. However they did not live on Quay Street, leaving the family in a small but accommodating five bedroom home. Ernie rarely saw his father growing up, his father a former Pride player retired to the life of a pub owner named after the Pride. His mother on the other hand was home constantly with him. Ernie grew up with the same ‘modern’ wizard things that most children did, he was spoiled to some degree because his parents could afford it and because his father was a former player for the Pride, Ernie often got to visit the matches with his father while he was still young enough to go. He didn’t attend a muggle primary school, instead his mother took over most of the schooling he needed prior to the age of eleven. Because of this Ernie can speak Scottish Gaelic. Where is their family now? Ernie hasn’t seen his parents since the takeover. He assumes that his parents have been killed or thrown in slavery as well because they were always staunch Dumbledore supporters. In reality his parents were killed, first his father during the time after the battle and his mother soon after. Why were they sorted into their house? A little known fact about Ernie is that he was almost placed into Slytherin house. However he was placed into Hufflepuff not by choice of his own, but by the sorting hat. He was chosen for Hufflepuff in spite of his power hungry nature because Ernie’s loyalty and ability to look past his own needs for his friends over shadowed everything. Ernie is a genuinely honest person and wouldn’t for the life of him go behind someone’s back to stab them. He’s too honorable for that. In his view chivalry isn’t dead it’s just elitists that make it seem that way. Do they have children? Tell us about them. No. Ernie is actually afraid of the day he has to hear ‘I’m pregnant’ from a girlfriend. So in some ways this society saved him from that since he won’t have to worry about children as a slave. What has happened in their life between the Battle of Hogwarts and now? When the battle of Hogwarts happened Ernie was instructed by Professor McGonagall, like all prefects, to organize their houses and evacuate them to the set point. Ernie however spoke up immediately asking about those who wished to stay and fight. He was not one to run from protecting that which he cared for most. Unfortunately even after everything they gave, it wasn’t enough leaving him to be captured with others who were fighting against the Death Eater and punished accordingly for his crimes against his blood status and the dark lord. He fell under the Blood Traitor Punishment Act and has since been a slave to the government, something he finds terribly ironic since he worked so hard to prevent that sort of thing from happening. Any other significant events in their life? Ernie has not always been a good friend to Harry Potter. In second year he accused Harry of being the one who petrified Justin Finch-Fletchley, one of his best mates. This trend continued in fourth year when the Triwizard Tournament came to Hogwarts and Cedric Diggory was chosen as the first champion. He was furious that Potter was trying to take Hufflepuff’s glory and wore one of the Slytherin made ‘Potter Stinks’ badges until finally Cedric got him to cease wearing it. However unlike many people Ernie believed Harry that he saw Voldemort return as their fourth year came to close. When fifth year started Ernie came to Hogwarts as a prefect himself and soon after openly declared his support of Harry so that at least Harry had someone on his side during all the fear of the idea that anything could bring back Voldemort. He was also quick to join the DA when it was introduced as an idea. He even brought along mates trying to get them involved as well seeing it as an important part of learning since their current teacher was incapable of doing any good.
